Mixed Media Dominoe “Play” & Challenge

Hello all,

If you follow me on Instagram (loriscardscreat) you will know that I am often on the hunt for new and vintage items that I can use in my Mixed Media and Steampunk projects.  I enjoy going to Antique and Vintage markets to look for treasures.

Well, today’s project is all about mixing the old and the new.  New being the unexpected find of these Giant Wooden Dominoes (found at Tuesday Morning).  Fabulous!

How Cool are these?  They are approximately 8″ x 4″ and I picked up a box of 28 for only $20.00!  This is officially a game set put out by Cardinal Industries Inc. and intended for actual Dominoe game play.  However, when you love Mixed Media, anything can become a project piece.  Oh Happy Day!

Below is the final project that I am also sharing on the “Creative Artiste Challenge Blog” this month for their “Anything Mixed Media Goes” challenge.

Like I said above, this is a mix of the old and the new.  I used vintage keys, game pieces as well as an old flash bulb for a camera.  These vintage items were mixed in with new products like gears, beads, home decor items and other fun embellishments.

            

I am really pleased at how this project came together and can’t wait to find new ways to put these Extra Large Wooden Dominoes to work!  Don’t you love the unexpected?!?
