WCMD Celebration Day 3: Abstract

Hello all,

A quick post tonight to showcase Wednesday’s card for my week-long Celebration of World Card Making Day (Saturday, October 7th).  For this card, I used one of my favorite stamping methods; creating an abstract collage by combing images from various stamps sets.   It’s a great way to create a neutral Birthday card that would be good for just about anyone in the family.  I find the key to this method is making sure that you are using your white space to your advantage.  This allows the abstract collage to really pop out at you.

WCMD Celebration Day 2: Love

Hello all,

The lovely thing about a card is that we give them away not only during happy times, like Holidays and Birthdays, but also on days when the ones we love experience a loss or have great sadness.  A card is one way that we can connect and say that we love you, we are thinking about you and that we care.  Whether we are near or far, a card can be that little ray on sunshine that really makes a difference.

My card post today is in tribute to those who lost their lives in the tragic shooting incident in Las Vegas, Nevada.  My thoughts and prayers go out to all impacted by this tragic and senseless event.

Card WCMD2 Love

Sending love and comfort to Las Vegas.

Stampnation Challenge #260 – Rainbow

Hello all,

How could I resist a Rainbow color Challenge?  In my world, the rainbow was all about the cake.  A Crooked Cake, that is!

Card Make a Wish Rainbow 10.1.17

I used the super fun Crooked Cake stamp and die set by Sugar Pea Designs to make this card.  To start, I set down a rainbow color wash on 90 lb. watercolor paper  with Grumbacher Opaque Watercolors.  Note that I used thinner watercolor paper so that I could still die cut with the thin dies in this set.  I then stamped the various Crooked Cake pieces, with Onyx Black Versafine ink, over the dry rainbow washed panel.  These elements were all die cut and then assembled on a stitched edge panel (die also included in set).

A strip of bright blue cardstock (for an additional pop of color) and the finished cake element was adhered to a white 4″ x 6″ card base.  The final touch, stamping the “Make a Wish” saying just under the cake and adding a few paper dots (extras from the die cuts pieces) to embellish.

Hope you enjoyed this card and use the instructions to make one of your own!

Happy Day!
