Steampunk box, Enduring

Hello all,

Finally got my hands on the Prima, Finnabair Rust Effects Paste.  I started experimenting on a chip board piece that I picked up at the Let’s Create Expo.   It’s a multi step process that Anna Dabrowska explains very well in her You Tube video:  https://youtu.be/ixsEjxB3NVM

Once I completed the chip board piece, I decided to try the paste out on some fasteners from my husband’s stash as well as a few other metal embellishments that I had in my bits and pieces bin.

I then assembled them all onto the a trinket box top (box and lid were pre-treated with some metallic paint through some drywall tape).

In the background, I used drywall tape to give the piece some additional texture and added some color here and there with metallic paint.  To complete the piece, I adhered the “Enduring” dictionary print text to the box top.

The Rust Effects Paste is super easy to work with and will add some awesome texture as well as a little drama to your art work.  I can’t wait to use on another project!

Happy day,

L

Mixed Media Canvas – Be Artistic

Hello all,

Finally finished up the 5 x 7 canvas (treated with Gesso) that I have been working on over the last day or two. This canvas features a texture paste, stenciled background at the top portion of the canvas and old clothing pattern pieces at the bottom of the canvas.

The entire background was then treated with a combination of chalk paint and ink sprays.  Stencil creme was used to highlight the pattern of the stencil and a script stamp was used to build up the layering.   The paper layers and fibers under the focal point were aged with Distress Ink /Oxides and Pitt pens were used to add shading around the border of the canvas.  For the focal point, I pulled out my stash of sealing wax and used the melted wax as the glue for the beads. As you can see, a few more embellishments were added here and there to finish up the piece.

I haven’t used sealing wax on my project for years, it was fun to dust off an old product and used it again.  I think it really added some nice interest to this canvas.

A Perfect Reason – CP SOA Challenge.3

Hello all,

“I did it”!  I accomplished my goal of completing and submitting 3 cards for the  Catherine Pooler (CP), Stamp of Approval challenge using stamps from “The Perfect Reason Collection”.   And, I might add, using the “You Did It” stamp set for this card was the perfect way to wrap things up!

CP SOA Challenge You Did It

This card features layered stamping of images using CP inks and stamp sets from The Perfect Reason stamp collection.  For some added dimension, foam mounting tape was used to pop up the card base and the flower focal point.   To finish, the card was embellished with ribbon, gems, and page pebble.

I am very pleased with the bright colors and crisp stamping that I was able to achieve with the CP inks!  These inks are a new staple in my craft room.

The next step in this challenge calls upon you!  Yes, voting for your favorite will open on May 21st at 6:05 EST at http://catherinepooler.com/blog/.  I hope that you will take the time to check out all of the wonderful cards posted and vote for your favorite.

Materials:

  • Catherine Pooler Inks: Lime Rickey, Tiara, Party Dress and Tiki Torch
  • Catherine Pooler stamps sets: The Perfect Reason, You Did It, Everyday Mod and Perfect Reason
  • Making Memories, Page Pebbles
  • Stampin’ up, Gems

A Perfect Reason – CP SOA Challenge.2

Hello all,

Continuing with my participation in the Catherine Pooler (CP), Stamp of Approval challenge using stamps from “The Perfect Reason Collection”.   As my hint in yesterday’s post suggested…I went with “The Perfect Reason Stamps Set” that includes a catchy “I don’t need a reason” phrase.

Some random stamping with CP inks (Tiki Torch, Party Dress, and Tutti Frutti) made a neat background for this card.  The panel was then splashed with a bit of black ink and Tiki Tourch ink (that I mixed with some pearlizing medium to give it bit of  a shimmer).

Once dry, I cut the panel into various shapes and arranged them onto an orange card front.   I also added some randomly stamped flowers to the bottom of the card front for some added interest.

That catchy phrase was then stamped onto a punched tag (that was colored using CP inks) and applied to the card with some sheer ribbon.  And finally, because you always need a little bling, some white adhesive pearls were added to the card.

Hope you liked the card and found some inspiration from this post!

A Perfect Reason – CP SOA Challenge.1

Hello all,

This week I am participating in the Catherine Pooler (CP), Stamp of Approval challenge using stamps from “The Perfect Reason Collections”.   My goal is to post at least 3 cards this week as part of this challenge with the 1st card shown below.

SOA challenge.Perfect Reason 5.15.17

The back ground for this was made by mixing CP inks (Something Borrowed and Tiki Tourch) with a pearlizing medium on my craft matte.  I then dipped a white piece of card stock into the “pearlized” ink until I liked the look of it.  I have to say, the versatility of CP inks continue to pleasantly surprise me!  I love the geometric design of the Everyday Mod Stamp set that I used on this card and the fact that is has some really great sayings paired with it is an added bonus.

Hint for the next card…”I don’t need a reason”.

Happy day!

Art Jounral Page – Grow

Hello all,

Posting a picture of the Art Journal page I made last night while visiting with my hubby and daughter. They joined me in my craft room and we all did our own thing while visiting…really nice evening! One downside though…I pretty much forgot to keep a materials list while creating this page. lol I can say that I started with Gellatos and moved to acrylic paint and even added some Distress Oxide in there. The Rose stamped image is from Stampendous and most of the Paper Flowers are Prima.

Hope you all are having a wonderful Sunday. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom’s out there too!

Art Journal – Hand Carved Stamps

Hello all,

As you know from my last post, my daughter has been making me hand carved stamps (and doing a quite a fabulous job, I might add).  When she gave them to me she asked me to use them on an Art Journal page so, here it is.

I am just really impressed with the stamps that she has carved. These are the 1st three that she has ever carved (she is a natural) and they worked very nicely on this journal page.
Purple is her favorite color so, of course, I had to use a purple color scheme for this layout.  I also tried out a new product on this piece, Liquitex Glass Beads – texture paste (It is the beaded texture behind the paper flowers at the bottom of the page.).  I mixed the glass bead paste with a little bit of Magenta Liquitex Heady Body Acrylic paint to give it a bit of color (it will dry clear otherwise).  I thought it added wonderful dimension and texture to the page and I can tell that I will be using this product much more in the future.

I had a great time making this page with my daughter’s masterpieces (yes, I know, I am partial).  Hope you are all getting some happy crafting time in too!
